FAQ
Who can place ads on MidOhio Classifieds?
Anyone is welcome to place ads on the website. We want ads for primarily Richland & Surrounding counties. If we see ads that are on the site that are from far outside our region, we may delete them. This is because we want our site to be LOCAL. There are plenty of sites that cover the entire State. That’s what’s wrong with those sites – so to keep our site LOCAL we ask users to please keep the ads local! Thanks!
What about spam ads?
We will most definitely remove spam ads when we see them. Any user posting spam ads may have their user account deleted as well. Spam ads can be in many different forms, but we generally identify spam as ads: that appear to no be advertising a bonafide product or service, that promote things like making $10,000/month in your spare time at home, that appear to be mass marketing ads placed on every free classified site, or that don’t adhere to the intended purpose, look, or feel of our website. We encourage users to flag any such ads – so we are able to better identify them.
What about business listings?
We welcome business listings. We even have a special “Services” category for businesses to post in. The intention is to offer a free and professional environment for small businesses to use to promote themselves. There are even display ads available for a modest fee. MidOhio Classifieds does not generate much revenue. We hope to recover the costs for server space, site upgrades, and site maintenance – so if you would like to promote your business while, at the same time, helping us out – please contact us.
How many listings can a business post?
We will allow one active posting in each Service category that directly relates to the services offered. For example, if a company offers Landscaping AND Snowplowing both, it would make sense to have a listing in each category. Business listings in unrelated categories will be considered spam. Item listings will be limited to a reasonable amount. We don’t like websites where one or two used car dealers take over the Auto section and post hundreds of ads. If people want to see all of a dealer’s cars, they would probably go to that dealer’s website. We ask that businesses refrain from over-posting and keep their postings to a reasonable amount (under 6 postings per day or 20 per week). Trusted users (and businesses) can be allowed to use HTML in their ads (just ask for permission!). We encourage businesses to place regular ads for items – and use the item page(s) for logos, graphics and links to bring people to their own website. Businesses that over-post may see some of their ads disappearing. We will also contact over-posting users to help with ideas on how to use our site to their better advantage.
Why do ads only last 30 days?
We want to keep our site fresh. Ads older than 30 days should be updated anyways. A new picture – a different description – maybe a price change would be in order. To keep things moving along, we decided that 30 days is a good time to change things up a little. This is why we have set all ads to expire after 30 days. If a user wants to continue advertising a post, they will need to re-post the ad when it expires.
