It was only last week I was excited that we had over 700 items listed for sale here on MidOhioClassifieds.  I looked today and, lo and behold, there are now over 900 listings!!?  That’s almost a 29% growth – and in just a week’s time!  Wow.  We don’t expect to have hundreds of new ads each week, but that would be awesome.  We started as just a little site with some local listings - but now we are creeping into CraigsList territory – since we are approaching 1,000 ads – and will probably have them in a few days.

CraigsList “only” shows about 1,200 – 1,300 ads for the Mansfield area.  I say “only” with quotes because it is really alot.  CraigsList is certainly our area’s largest online classified site.  We are becoming a strong #2 – and before we expected we will surely be taking the top spot!  Not that CraigsList is bad – but our site is better!  Thanks to all our new friends and neighbors who are posting items – buying, selling, and trading things through our site!  Keep up the good work – and keep spreading the news about MidOhioClassifieds.com

Oops & By Golly!

Thanks to all the users who are “helping” us through our growing pains.  Earlier today we heard from a user asking, “Where is your Search Box?”?!  What?  That was our first reaction.  Surely we have a Search Box right?  It was there just the other day.  Right?  Hmmm.  We aren’t really sure because we thought we saw it.  We’re pretty sure positively (maybe) that we saw it!  Anyways, we don’t use the site exactly the same way our users do. 

We have really cool and tricky special screens that give us all kinds of options that the front page doesn’t have – like searching ads!  We had no problem searching – on our end – but that’s because we are using different screens here.  They are not the same screens that you see “there” – so guess what?  We had no search option – and didn’t even realize it!

Thankfully we get feedback from users like you that say, “Hey, where’s the search box?!”, and that really helps us to get things corrected.  In this case, we were lucky enough to get it corrected within minutes, and we installed gobs of search boxes.  We might even put a few more in.  You can never have too many search boxes!  That’s practically what this internet is all about.  Right?!

So keep the comments and questions flowing.  Yes, we are probably the only classified website where you will get personal service and attention like this.  Email Craig – at that Craigslist place – and see if you get any kind of response.  EVER!  Yes, that’s right.  We care about our users.  Craig doesn’t care about you at all.  You are just a no name number to Craig.  He is heartless, uncaring, and just downright rude!  We are much more in tough with our users and members – We care more than Craig does!  Honest we do.

Oh, and please skip the questions about us adding the Accurate Lottery Number Predictor to the website.  We’ve been working on it for months, and we continue to test it.  So far, all we get are numbers – and they look good!  The problem comes when we play the numbers – we haven’t won the darn lottery yet.  When we get that working, I’ll let you know.  Until then, happy buying – selling – and trading!

We Are Growing – Fast!

Our gardens are growing – and so are WE!

Thank you to all our MidOhio neighbors who have discovered our new site and are  starting to buy, sell, and trade on it!  In just a few short weeks we have gone from zero to over 700 ads posted.  The traffic on the site is building as well!

Since the site is FREE to use, we have no revenue coming in to use for promotion.  That’s why we need as much free publicity as we can get – so please tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell everyone!  – that MidOhioClassifieds is alive and growing!  We need your help and support, but together we can build a great site for our community.  With over 700 ads, we are off to a great start.  Hopefully we will see some of the low categories begin to fill up soon.

Cinco de Mayo at MidOhio Classifieds

We celebrated a little differently this May 5th here at MidOhio Classifieds.  This is the day we updated our theme.  Our new look is more streamlined, more attractive, and we think just all-around better!

The new look includes larger thumbnails on the main page which (we hope) will invite users to visit often.  With glance  all the latest ads posted can be seen - right on the front page.  This should encourage people to set MidOhio Classifieds as a favorite – or better yet: drag a shortcut the site on the desktop screen – and click to the site regularly to see (and catch) the best deals.

There are now three easy tabs on the ad list.  They are Just Listed, Most Popular, and Random.  We are designing the site to be simple to use.  We want everything to be familiar and easy for all visitors and users.

Registered Users can now post a profile page – which even I haven’t done yet – but this will help buyers find other things a user has for sale.  All of each users items appear in their profile.  When you are viewing an ad, click on the “Poster” tab in the right-hand column.  This will show you more information about who posted the ad.  Their username is a link – which will take you to their profile page with even more information.  All the ads they have currently running are listed below their profile.

Also improved is our ad editing functions.  On our old site layout users could edit their own ad, but with limitations.  If they posted an ad without a photo, they had no ability to ad that photo later.  Now they do.  There are more (and better) options for users editing their ads.  As always, if a user is having trouble getting their ad to appear the way they want it, they can always contact us for help.  We can, from our end, make modifications and adjustments to any ad.

There are many more improvements we have made – and we are working on more.  I will cover more recent changes here in our blog as time allows.
